Production update
about 5 years ago – Mon, Feb 25, 2019 at 01:55:31 PM

Hi everybody,

this  is Frank Jaeger from Ludo Fact. We are in the process of producing  "Andoria Battlefields". Raentik Games and I have agreed that you should  get the information straight from the source  so I am chipping in here.

What is the status of the production?

We  have all files and production is underway. Usually, producing a board  game takes 6 to 8 weeks, but we akready started two weeks ago. The  production process is a complicated matter with  logistics and warehousing and also the availability of raw materials to  be take into account. Before we have started production of the base  game, many other items were done already. The miniatures have been  started last year and are on their way to Europe  on a ship somewhere on the Seven Seas (well, likely the Indian Ocean.  Unless we have a very confused skipper). Raentik already has the player  mats and on our end everything seems to run smoothly, too.

When will the games be ready?

Well, that is a bit difficult to say yet. We are planning for mid March.  The reason for that is the time of the year. It is toy fair time which  means we are usually very busy (Toy fairs are,  in order starting mid January to Mid March: Hongkong, London, Nürnberg,  New York, Cannes, Reno) and production capacity is full. That also goes  for our suppliers of which usually the dice take longest. I expect that  the dice will also determine the exact date  of assembly in this case, too. Right now we only have a preliminary  delivery date which is in March.

I  would expect Andoria Battlefields to be ready somewhere between March 8  and March 15th. Can this be sped up? Unfortunately, no. Ludo Fact  produces approximataly 50000 games per day and  the logistical implications on the supply chain to switch a game back  and forth are immense as each game consists of many different items, and  most of these items consist of more items in various stages of  processing.

Let me give you an example: Let's take a box top. From the finished box top backwards we split it into a

- box top printed sheet corners punched and a grey carton blank, punched

These go a step back and were

- box top printed sheet corners unpunched and a grey carton sheet

The carton is in its original state now, but for the printed sheet we go another step back:

- box top printed sheet cut to size

which was ordered as

- box top printed sheet

So  for production the simple box top consists out of no less than seven  different items for which the supply chain and production process on the  machines has to be planned. So if I go over  and ask my colleagues nicely if they could pull Andoria Battlefields  forward a week or two, their answer my include the use of tar and  feathers. Not something I look particularly forward to.

I  hope that this little detour into production gave you a little insight.  It does not speed up production, but at least you know exactly where we  stand and that Raentik can do absolutely  nothing to speed things up. It is out of their hands and will take a  few more weeks to be ready.

Cheers

On the finishing line
about 5 years ago – Thu, Feb 07, 2019 at 03:48:54 PM

Hi Guys,
we understand that you are annoyed that the game is still not there and some are asking for their money back, but the bills are paid and the games and add-ons are in production!

Here are a some pictures about the finished miniature of Lord Teraxx, the neopren game mats and the custom bags which are now on the way to Germany.

The game should be finished in the next 3 weeks and then we will start to ship them.

As some add-ons will not arrive until mid-March, backer who have ordered the basic game will first receive their copy.

We are already looking forward to seeing pictures of people around the world playing Andoria Battlefields.

Yes, there have been a lot of problems on the way here (bad productions, quality we did not like, etc.), but we do not want to bother you with the details of the problems every time, otherwise it might be an excuse. Unfortunately we couldn´t estimate how many production steps such a project goes through and how much time it takes to get it right.

We are all looking forward to the finished game.

Thank you!
